Aqua Fire engineers have designed an External Water Sprinkler System (EWSS) for residential properties. It drenches the roof, wall openings and immediate surroundings prior to the fire's arrival, making it very difficult for an ember attack to ignite the dwelling.
Each Aqua FireShield bushfire sprinkler system is site specific and individually customised for your home. The design principles take into account the latest Rural Fire Service guidelines and CSIRO research. The system has been designed by Australian engineers for Australian conditions using Australian parts.
The system is fully standalone as in times of fire emergency ‘town’ water and electricity can become unavailable. The system uses its own Static Water Supply (SWS) and petrol-powered pump. We specify copper pipes and metal sprinklers.

We can offer the following services to householders and builders:
- Design, Supply and Installation projects
We will custom-design your system, supply all parts and materials, organise the labour, project manage the installation and commission and test the system. We also provide training and documentation for the owners in system operation and maintenance. - Design and Supply projects
We provide you with a Sprinkler Design Report tailored to your property and a list of parts and materials. Some items can be supplied by Aqua FireShield and some items are usually supplied by the installer. Documentation for the owners in system operation and maintenance is also provided.
- ‘Design Only’ projects
We provide you with a Sprinkler Design Report tailored to your property and a list of critical items (pump, piping, sprinklers and fittings) to be supplied by the installer. Documentation for the owners in system operation and maintenance is also provided. - System Commissioning and Training
We can undertake commissioning and testing of your installed system. We also provide training for the owners in system operation and maintenance. - Annual Inspection and Maintenance
External water sprinkler systems need to be tested annually, before the start of each bushfire season. We provide instructions for this testing and maintenance with each sprinkler installation, however some householders may prefer that Aqua Fire attend to the annual inspection and maintenance.
The Sprinkler Design Report includes:
- Explanation of the overall design concept for your site
- Hydraulic calculations based on site-specific design, including system demand, detailed pipe sizes, etc.
- Recommended standalone pump for efficient operation of the system
- Design drawing and specifications
- List of items available from Aqua Fire with prices
- List of items to be supplied by the owner/installer
- Detailed installation instructions
